Mid Coast Group Training (MCGT) located in Pt Macquarie employs apprentices and trainees including school based positions on behalf of employers and forms an association and partnership with the employer to manage the apprenticeship/traineeship.
MCGT has petitioned its parent company, the Hunter Valley Training Company, through its Innovation Fund, to fully fund the wage component of a school based traineeship in Disability Services Certificate III for Christian Heritage School HSC student Samantha Grille. Samantha works 1 day per week at NewIDAFE, a local disability service that offers adults with a severe disability the opportunity to further their education, extend their skill level or have support to access the community and its resources.
Pt Macquarie campus of TAFE where Samantha attends 1 day per week delivers the Cert III in Disability Services.
As part of her schooling last year, Samantha visited Cambodia as part of her mission/ministry and saw firsthand the low level of support afforded Cambodians with a disability. Samantha’s career ambition is to return to Cambodia post school and work with people in need. MCGT and the Hunter Valley Training Company are humbled yet proud to be able to work with someone as special as Samantha to achieve her goal.
