PATRIC NICOLSON
 
Patric Nicholson started in the Engineering - Production Technology traineeship in February 2007. Patric’s enthusiasm and interest in the industry has been reflected on the job and he has earnt the respect of his peers.

 

In 2008 Mid Coast Piling & Drilling gained many contracts where specialist skills were required. Patric has been given the opportunity to gain these extra skills and has exceeded everyone’s expectation. One example of this was the foundation and piling of a road bridge. The RTA has very stringent guideline in the construction of bridges and Patric had to be accredited by the RTA as a welder. This authorization came about only after very strigent testing was done.

 

The partnership between Mid Coast Piling & Drilling and Mid Coast Group Training has provided Patric with the opportunity to get extra training and equipment allowing him to excel in this industry.

 

Patric was the awarded the Mid Coast Group Taining Trainee of the Year in 2008 and was a nominee for the Hunter Valley Training companies award

 

 

CHRIS OSBOURNE

 Chris is held in high esteem by MCGT, Host Employer Bennetts Steel, co- workers and has received the highest praise from his teachers within the metals and engineering department North Coast TAFE Taree Campus.
Chris has undertaken additional training in his own time studying of a night to achieve dual qualifications in both Engineering Mechanical and Engineering Fabrication. This is an indication of the dedication Chris displays to his daily work and chosen trade.

Chris has been given a variety of complicated tasks throughout his apprenticeship and with the guidance of
Bennetts Steel has succeeded at each and every one. Chris uses his initiative on all tasks. He shows respect to his colleagues and everyone enjoys working with him.” Chris is a valued member of the Wauchope community actively involved in the rural fire brigade.

Well done Chris on the effort you have demonstrated during your apprenticeship and congratulations on receiving this award MCGT Apprentice of the year for 2008 and on your nomination in the Hunter Valley Training awards .

 

EDWIN BAKER

 

Edwin  finished his HSC and School Based Apprenticeship in Commercial Cookery with the Australian Technical College Port Macquarie – VOCOL Campus and additional host employer Ca Marche Restaurant in 2008.

 

Edwin displays a maturity beyond his years. He has a first rate temperament that is noticed by all who come into contact with him. He is held in the highest regard by MCGT, school staff and host employer Julia Hickey and Michael Kelly from Ca Marche Restaurant.

 

Edwin is on track to become a renowned young chef passionate about his chosen trade with a personality that will assist in changing the perception of the “misunderstood chef”.
